Western Theological Seminary- Mulder Chapel
This project involved the renovation of a 1950s-era Colonial chapel located on a Midwestern seminary campus. While the chapel’s classic layout and traditional character were beloved, its limited flexibility and outdated media capabilities restricted its use.
The refreshed design honors the chapel’s historic charm while introducing modern systems and adaptable seating to support a wide range of activities. The space now serves as a vibrant setting for daily chapel services, where seminary students explore and lead creative approaches to worship as part of their training.
In addition to worship, the chapel now comfortably accommodates weddings, funerals, lectures, and musical performances — including organ and chamber recitals — making it a flexible, inspiring venue for both the seminary and broader community.
